Fire Reservoir

In July 2011, a fire reservoir in Uhy, Czech Republic, was treated with two LG Sonic e-line devices. The water surface was covered by mats of filamentous algae.

The Challenge: Control Filamentous Algae

Located in Uhy, near Prague (Czech Republic), the 3000 m³ water reservoir for fire extinguishing and bathing purposes was completely covered with filamentous algae. For years, the image of the pond was disrupted by the continuous algae growth during warm seasons.

The Solution: Control Algae with the LG Sonic e-line

As an environmentally friendly solution, the use of ultrasonic treatment can be used to control algae. Ultrasonic treatment uses high frequency sound waves to control algae growth in open balance tanks. To cover the 3.000 m2 of water surface, it was decided to install 2 LG Sonic e-line devices. The units were connected to a local power source and protected from outsiders.

The Results: Reduction in Filamentous Algae

After 2 weeks of the installation, the results were satisfactory. Filamentous algae had disappeared completely from the surface. Debris of the dead algae sank to the bottom and degrade naturally.
