La investigaci\u00f3n es el resultado del trabajo de 109 cient\u00edficos, de 35 pa\u00edses, a lo largo de siete a\u00f1os. Ese estudio nunca hab\u00eda sido realizado anteriormente.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-14991 size-full\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/infographic-based-on-Nature-vSPA.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1080\" height=\"1080\" srcset=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/infographic-based-on-Nature-vSPA.png 1080w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/infographic-based-on-Nature-vSPA-300x300.png 300w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/infographic-based-on-Nature-vSPA-1024x1024.png 1024w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/infographic-based-on-Nature-vSPA-150x150.png 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1080px) 100vw, 1080px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>La revista Nature \u2013 Communications Earth &amp; Environment public\u00f3 el informe \u201c<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s43247-021-00178-8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">El aumento en la proliferaci\u00f3n de algas, a nivel global, fue percibido debido al monitoreo intensificado y a los impactos emergentes de la floraciones<\/a><\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Los investigadores utilizaron\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/haedat.iode.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">la base global de datos de eventos de algas nocivas<\/a>\u00a0(HAEDAT), que tiene 9,503 eventos que afectan a los seres humanos, y el\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.obis.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sistema de Informaci\u00f3n de Biodiversidad Oce\u00e1nica<\/a>\u00a0(OBIS), que tiene 7 millones de registros de observaci\u00f3n de microalgas, siendo 289,668 incidentes con especies de algas peligrosas. Tambi\u00e9n se utiliz\u00f3 la lista de referencia taxon\u00f3mica de microalgas nocivas de la IOC- UNESCO.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-14670 size-full\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/algae-bloom-satellite-view@2x.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1320\" height=\"640\" srcset=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/algae-bloom-satellite-view@2x.jpg 1320w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/algae-bloom-satellite-view@2x-300x145.jpg 300w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/algae-bloom-satellite-view@2x-1024x496.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1320px) 100vw, 1320px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Un evento recurrente<\/h2>\n<p>Las microalgas son la base de las cadenas alimentarias acu\u00e1ticas, ayudan a regular los niveles de CO2 en la atm\u00f3sfera y producen aproximadamente la mitad del ox\u00edgeno del mundo. Sin embargo hay m\u00e1s de 200 especies, que cuando son abundantes, pueden liberar toxinas peligrosas o causar da\u00f1o.<\/p>\n<p>Las floraciones nocivas ya se han observado en el a\u00f1o 731, lo que demuestra que no son un fen\u00f3meno nuevo.<\/p>\n<p>Las actividades humanas, la contaminaci\u00f3n por nutrientes, el crecimiento de la poblaci\u00f3n, las condiciones clim\u00e1ticas cambiantes y los avances en la acuicultura est\u00e1n actualmente contribuyendo a la gravedad del problema.<\/p>\n<p>En el estudio fueron observados que algunos de los nuevos eventos de FAN, en ambientes marinos, son causados por el aumento de las temperaturas, la acidificaci\u00f3n de los oc\u00e9anos, la disminuci\u00f3n de la oxigenaci\u00f3n y los cambios en los niveles de nutrientes.<\/p>\n<p>Por lo tanto, se espera que el cambio clim\u00e1tico sea un factor agravante, pudiendo afectar la seguridad y protecci\u00f3n de los mariscos.<\/p>\n<h2>Resultados del estudio<\/h2>\n<p>Seg\u00fan el estudio se observaron que los eventos de FAN aumentaron en el Caribe, Am\u00e9rica del Sur, el Mediterr\u00e1neo y el norte de Asia y han disminuido en la costa oeste de Estados Unidos, Australia y Nueva Zelanda.<\/p>\n<p>Las floraciones nocivas, adem\u00e1s de amenazar la seguridad y protecci\u00f3n de los mariscos, tambi\u00e9n pueden afectar la industria del turismo y los usos recreativos del mar. Las FAN liberan toxinas que pueden afectar la salud de los seres humanos.<\/p>\n<p>En todas las regiones, donde la informaci\u00f3n era apropiada para el estudio, hubo una fuerte correlaci\u00f3n entre la proliferaci\u00f3n de algas nocivas a lo largo del tiempo y la producci\u00f3n acu\u00edcola intensificada.<\/p>\n<p>La producci\u00f3n acu\u00edcola mundial aument\u00f3 de 11,35 millones de toneladas en 1985 a 178,5 millones de toneladas en 2018, seg\u00fan el informe. El mayor crecimiento fue observado en el sudeste de Asia, Am\u00e9rica del Sur y el Caribe.<\/p>\n<p>La producci\u00f3n acu\u00edcola contribuye a la contaminaci\u00f3n por nutrientes, creando condiciones eutr\u00f3ficas en los cuerpos de agua y favoreciendo a las FAN.<\/p>\n<p>Se espera que la presencia de algas nocivas, su toxicidad y sus riesgos aumenten en el siglo XXI. Esta fue la conclusi\u00f3n del Grupo Intergubernamental en el 2019 sobre el informe de evaluaci\u00f3n del cambio clim\u00e1tico para las floraciones da\u00f1inas tanto de agua dulce como marinas.<\/p>\n<h2>FAN en ecosistemas de agua dulce<\/h2>\n<p>Las FAN adem\u00e1s de ser encontrados en oc\u00e9anos, r\u00edos y arroyos, tambi\u00e9n pueden aparecer en las fuentes de agua dulce que son utilizadas de suministro de agua potable, siendo igualmente peligrosas, por lo que hay que prestarles atenci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>Las FAN en los ecosistemas de agua dulce y salobre provocan\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.researchgate.net\/publication\/10708668_Harmful_Freshwater_Algal_Blooms_With_an_Emphasis_on_Cyanobacteria_The_Scientific_World_176-113\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">olores y sabores desagradables, desoxigenaci\u00f3n de las aguas del fondo (hipoxia, anoxia), muerte de peces, alteraciones de la cadena alimentaria<\/a>, y tambi\u00e9n pueden ser t\u00f3xicas.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-14722 size-full\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fish-dead-toxic-algae@2x.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1320\" height=\"640\" srcset=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/fish-dead-toxic-algae@2x.jpg 1320w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/fish-dead-toxic-algae@2x-300x145.jpg 300w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/fish-dead-toxic-algae@2x-1024x496.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1320px) 100vw, 1320px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Las toxinas de las algas son da\u00f1inas para las personas, los animales y otros organismos acu\u00e1ticos. La calidad del agua utilizada para beber y para la recreaci\u00f3n es afectada, amenazando las econom\u00edas locales y el turismo.<\/p>\n<p>C\u00f3mo si todo eso fuera poco, por primera vez,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lgsonic.com\/scientists-algal-blooms-release-a-dangerous-toxin-into-the-air\/\">los cient\u00edficos acaban de encontrar la toxina ATX de algas en el aire.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Puede ser un proceso complicado evitar los problemas relacionados con las algas en los ecosistemas de agua dulce.
