During the Global TAG conference LG Sonic received an award for the successful development and commercialization of the MPC-Buoy, an environmentally system to monitor and control harmful algal blooms with the use of ultrasonic technology. The Global TAG conference and awards event took place on the 26th April 2015 at the InterContinental Hotel Athenaeum in Athens, Greece.
Event participants represented water and waste water utilities, agencies and technology companies from TAG groups in the UK, Europe, North America, Australia and Singapore:“The event was a great success and embodied the ethos of the Isle TAG approach – enabling networking, collaboration and recognition of commitment to water industry innovation between the most progressive water and waste water agencies across the world” (Isle Utilities).
Monitor, Predict and Control Algae by using ultrasound
During the ceremony LG Sonic received an award for most developed technology, recognizing LG Sonic for their speed of development, relevance in the market and commercial success since appearing at TAG: “We are honored to receive this award for the successful development and commercialization of the MPC-Buoy. Receiving this price from Isle Utilities is a great recognition for our achievements” (LG Sonic).
The MPC-Buoy is a solar-powered system that combines continuous online water quality monitoring, web-based software, and ultrasonic technology to effectively control harmful algal blooms in large water surfaces, such as recreational lakes and drinking water reservoirs. At this moment, the MPC-Buoy is installed in lakes and water reservoirs in, among other countries, the United States of America, Canada, Colombia, the United Kingdom, Malaysia, and Poland.
