WEFTEC 2017

Visit LG Sonic Algae Control at WEFTEC 2017

From September 30 – October 4, LG Sonic will exhibit at WEFTEC 2017 to showcase its chemical-free solution to monitor and control algae in lakes and reservoirs. The MPC-Buoy is a floating solar powered system that combines real-time water quality monitoring and ultrasonic sound waves to control algae without harming the ecosystem. LG Sonic will exhibit at booth 8134 (Netherlands Water Pavilion).

Reduce algae up to 90% with sound waves

Algae causes problems when blooming in lakes and reservoirs. To control algae and restore the balance of the ecosystem, LG Sonic developed an environmentally friendly technology to control algae effectively by making use of specific ultrasonic sound waves. These sound waves are harmless for fish, plants, and zooplankton and reduces algae up to 90%. The MPC-Buoy is a unique solution that can adapt the algae treatment to different types of algae by combining ultrasound technology with real-time water quality monitoring. The system monitors different algae and water quality parameters and sends them to an online user-friendly software called MPC-View.

American Water reduces chemical costs

By using ultrasound technology as an alternative to chemicals, the MPC-Buoy system reduces the chemical costs of America’s largest drinking water utility, American Water, by 22% with a return of investment of 1.8 years. Besides a reduction in chemical costs, the ultrasound also reduced the concentration of undesirable taste and odor causing compounds in the water delivered to the customers. Since 2014, LG Sonic is running MPC-Buoy projects in more than 15 countries in among other countries, the United States, Colombia, Singapore and New Zealand.
