Quando a mat\u00e9ria org\u00e2nica se acumula e os n\u00edveis de oxig\u00eanio diminuem, as bact\u00e9rias anaer\u00f3bicas decomp\u00f5em esse material e liberam g\u00e1s metano. Os m\u00e9todos tradicionais de medi\u00e7\u00e3o, como amostragem de campo e sensores in situ, costumam ser caros e ter cobertura espacial e temporal limitada.<\/p>\n<p>Para superar esses desafios, a LG Sonic desenvolveu um m\u00e9todo de teledete\u00e7\u00e3o para estimar as emiss\u00f5es de metano e di\u00f3xido de carbono de corpos d&#8217;\u00e1gua eutr\u00f3ficos usando dados de sat\u00e9lite. Esse m\u00e9todo permite avaliar em grande escala as concentra\u00e7\u00f5es de gases de efeito estufa sem a necessidade de equipamentos cont\u00ednuos in situ e permite analisar as tend\u00eancias hist\u00f3ricas das emiss\u00f5es.<\/p>\n<p>Ao melhorar o acesso aos dados sobre emiss\u00f5es, essa abordagem favorece uma tomada de decis\u00e3o mais informada em mat\u00e9ria de mitiga\u00e7\u00e3o das mudan\u00e7as clim\u00e1ticas e gest\u00e3o dos ecossistemas.<\/p>\n<h2>Redu\u00e7\u00e3o das emiss\u00f5es de metano e di\u00f3xido de carbono em um reservat\u00f3rio de \u00e1gua pot\u00e1vel<\/h2>\n<p>O rio Guandu \u00e9 um importante reservat\u00f3rio de \u00e1gua pot\u00e1vel no Rio de Janeiro, que abastece aproximadamente nove milh\u00f5es de pessoas. O crescimento persistente de algas no reservat\u00f3rio causou problemas de sabor e odor causados por compostos como a geosmina, bem como um aumento nas emiss\u00f5es de gases de efeito estufa.<\/p>\n<p>Em 2022, oito sistemas <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lgsonic.com\/pt-br\/mpc-buoy-2-2-3\/\">MPC-Buoy<\/a> foram instalados para melhorar a qualidade da \u00e1gua e estabilizar as condi\u00e7\u00f5es ecol\u00f3gicas.<\/p>\n<p>Ap\u00f3s sua implementa\u00e7\u00e3o, a qualidade da \u00e1gua na capta\u00e7\u00e3o da esta\u00e7\u00e3o de tratamento de \u00e1gua de Guandu melhorou significativamente, eliminando as reclama\u00e7\u00f5es sobre sabor e odor e reduzindo a necessidade de tratamento qu\u00edmico. A redu\u00e7\u00e3o de emiss\u00f5es alcan\u00e7ada no rio Guandu equivale a plantar e manter centenas de \u00e1rvores ou compensar centenas de horas de viagens a\u00e9reas de passageiros.<\/p>\n<p>Esses resultados demonstram que o gerenciamento da prolifera\u00e7\u00e3o de algas n\u00e3o \u00e9 apenas essencial para a qualidade da \u00e1gua e a sa\u00fade do ecossistema, mas tamb\u00e9m contribui para mitigar as mudan\u00e7as clim\u00e1ticas.
